Duties
1) To prepare, develop and implement Environmental Audit plans and programmes.
2) To inspect the facilities or activities for the protection of the environment, including free zones.
3) To carry out the work and procedures regarding the relevant administrative sanctions in case of any violation or violation of the legislation during the audits it carries out.
4) To monitor and control the projects decided in accordance with the EIA regulation after construction / realization and operation.
5) To ensure that monitoring studies are carried out regarding the implementation of the plans and programs subjected to Strategic Environmental Assessment.
6) In order to improve environmental audits, to make them more effective and efficient, to train the personnel of the Ministry who will carry out the inspection, to update their training, certification, identity cards, etc. to ensure the follow up of the works carried out.
7) In order to determine the conformity of motor vehicles exhaust emissions with the determined standards, to ensure that inspections are carried out and concluded in cooperation with Provincial Directorates and, if necessary, relevant institutions / organizations.
8) To follow up the works and procedures regarding the delegation of authority to the institutions and organizations to carry out audits (inspections).
9) To determine the products and substances that will be subject to market surveillance and control in cooperation with the relevant units in order to protect the environment and prevent pollution.
10) In order to determine the conformity and reliability of the products included in the environmental legislation with the relevant legislation and technical regulations, to ensure that the necessary controls and inspections are carried out and finalized in cooperation with the relevant departments and Provincial Directorates of the Ministry and the relevant institutions / organizations.
11) To ensure coordination and cooperation among authorized institutions regarding market surveillance and inspection of products included in environmental legislation.
12) To determine the procedures and principles for implementation in order to prevent major industrial accidents involving dangerous substances and to minimize the effects of possible accidents on people and the environment.
13) To determine the establishments at risk of major industrial accidents.
14) To prepare and implement an inspection plan and programme for establishments with major industrial accident risk.
15) To carry out inspections and finalize the organizations that bear major industrial accident risk.
16) To cooperate with the relevant units, institutions, organizations and sectors in order to increase the technical and administrative capacity in the fields within its field of duty.
17) To monitor, carry out, implement and improve the national and international studies on the subjects falling within its field of duty.
18) To fulfill similar duties assigned by the General Manager.
